do landlords not bother how many people live in the houses has long has they are paying rent.two people get the house first then it snowballs from two to god knows how many. The landlords only insured for two people in most cases.Is this not breaking the law.

Hi albion,
I see your concern but owners of rented houses must abide by legislation and have sufficient insurance. Also, in many cases the owner or landlord must apply to the planning department for change of use if the property will have multiple occupancy. There are strict rules but I have seen many properties whose owners appear to be oblivious to legislation. But legislation is in place and if not adhered to then me and thee can complain.

Peter, the legislation applies to all regardless of ethnicity.
Any concern over breeching rules and legislation should be reported.
Over the years I have had issues with some British neighbours but never with any other nationalities.

At times needs more than 2 people to pay the rent . Mid terraced house unfurnished was £600 a month now £725 a month plus nearly£1000 for security deposit plus 1 weeks rent

Thatcher is not to blame. Council houses were being sold off long before her reign, from 1936? 1957 at least!

Bentlegs, a couple of weeks ago, we finished working on a two bedroom bungalow in Radcliffe for an estate agent who'd bought it to rent out.
Last day, the girl rolled up to show prospective tenants round. In between viewings (there was 4 viewings booked for the afternoon) we were chatting and she told me the rent was £900 a month. The first to view that afternoon, a couple with a small boy, accepted it straight away.
They go like hot cakes, even at that price!

Find me the person who is happy to buy a house, live in it for a number of years and then sell it for less.
Why are rents rising? Two reasons are because of rising prices and the lack of available property.
You/We are living in a society filled with greed and one which is fuelled by greed and the misguided belief that there is money to be made and it doesn't matter whether or not the market and certain people suffer because of this!
People, when possible, are investing in property.
Sadly, we have people who even openly brag about owning more than one property. These people are investing in property and are not only gloating in the essence of this action but are creating a falsified market value. This kind of behaviour creates the worrying issues which we have come to know too well and there are concerns that prices are escalating to the extreme and beyond our control.
Owning more than one property deprives the possibility of a person wishing to buy as the availability becomes more limited.
Of course, the landlord/landlady will tell you that they are providing a service and everything else to brighten up their own egos and to try and persuade you, the listener, that they are offering something which is helping society and of course, trying to fool you in believing they are a charitable individual.
Fact! Actions of some members of our own society are limiting the availability of property to buy and are only supporting the market prices as well as fuelling the ever increasing price of property.
People are paying ridiculous prices because they have been placed in a position where they have little option or even, no option at all!

So! Who is to blame?

One of the reasons why there is a shortage of housing is people buying more and more second homes which is preventing younger people in many seaside and rural areas to get a property.

Thirty years ago, I went into the village shop in the lovely village of Corfe Castle in Dorset and remarked to the owner that there were not many people about. She told me that it was because many of the Properties were owned by people from cities like London as second homes.

The sad thing is that people who live in the seaside and country areas are jumping on the property racket by doing the selling and leasing of the properties.

Everybody for themselves now and sod those who cannot get or struggle to get a property!

I suppose the fact that the population has increased by several million in the last two decades, may have something to do with the housing shortage.

It has among other things like more people getting second homes, younger people not wanting to live with their parents and getting their own homes, many with the help of their parents, many buying new and better houses with the profits made from houses bought by grandparents in the Thatcher mass right to buy era,

At the same time, thousands of terraced houses and flats are lying empty, with many of the owners on benefits living elsewhere with someone else.

You need to go round with the election registration forms where you get a eye opener where housing is concerned.

I did, when I round many older properties for a nearby Council around five years ago!

Is it not wrong that people from other countries get rented houses .Helped out with their rent because not working.Go back where they came from for months on end. saying there going for Holiday.Getting rent payed and not living there. This is fact not fiction.Tax payers moneybeing paid and not even in the house.. This is just one house..The landlady must be getting her rent she.s never been near the place. after five months and not come back yet.

I have a house in Haydock which is empty and undergoing an upgrade. Last year, the council charged me 50% loading (half again on top of the standard council tax) because it's empty.
Last week I was at the council trying to get a 25% discount. No chance! 25% loading again, for 2022 / 2023. Paid it in full. "Thank you., don't forget, next year the loading will be 100% if it's still empty, it'll be classed as a second home"!

To rub salt in it, whilst I was sat there, number in hand, waiting my turn, I weighed up the folk all around me, also waiting. One or two were Eastern European, couple of kids in tow. Several were locals, moaning about the council in a loud voice. One bloke was complaining to everybody who'd listen, because he'd got a parking ticket even though he has a 'blue badge' and he used to work for this council years ago!
I thought to myself, "I'll bet not one of these are paying any council tax at all, because I'm paying it for 'em"!!!!!!

Is it right for people to get help paying their rent and going back to their own country for months on endi.e 6 months plus.Land lord are Landlady getting their rent and the house is empty.Seems a big scam to me. Landlady never been near the place so she must be getting her rent.taxpayers money being payed out and their not in it. no sighn of them comming back.one of the women is pregnant . I saw an 86 year old Pakistani woman, never before having been to England in her life, brought to England by her son, to be looked after by home-carers in disabled living accommodation, all funded by Bolton Occupational Health. Never cost them a penny.
At the same time, my own Mum, who had worked from 14 to 60 and was paralised by a brain hemorrhage at 85, was forced to pay £602 a week for the same care package.

I've seen Asian families sat on property worth £millions, all in a trust (registered charity), all getting housing benefits, and everything else benefits, even though they get a new £60,000 car every August.

Most of the better off and that incudes ordinary people of today are not bothered as they have all the low pay everyday service jobs provided for them, mostly by immigrants on the minimum wage or less and know that they will not be around to see the outcome of the folly of mass immigration.

Hard working people are being laughed at today who pay there tax and insurance. the norm today is get on Benefits get help with rent sometimes reduced rent.let extra people live in the house and share the rent.Some people are living free.Then find work on the side cash in there backpocket...A good way to get extra cash buying and selling cars.Working at car washes.Sick of being laughed at..

Don't mention the doctor or dentist appointment you can't have because the queue in front of you is full of foreigners who don't belong here!
